Based in Mississauga, ON wpd Canada has been active since 2006, and has a growing staff of professionals including engineering, legal, accounting, environmental compliance, administration and communications.  wpd Canada has been awarded 6 Feed-in Tariff contracts in Ontario with a capacity of approximately 111 MW, and is awaiting an Economic Connectivity Test (ECT) for another 3 projects totalling approximately 78 MW.   wpd Canada is a wholly owned subsidiary of wpd AG, the market leader in renewable wind energy in Germany and present in with a presence throughout the globe. As a member of the wpd family, we are able to draw on the expertise of our colleagues around the world, as well as the financing and purchasing power of our parent company to the advantage of our projects here at home.

wpd Canada believes that the protection of our climate is vital for our planet.  Not only do our wind projects not produce harmful greenhouse gas emissions, but wpd has recently earned the status of a CO2-free company.  Our contribution to projects such as the reforestation of the rainforest in Guatemala and the preservation of a mangrove forest in Sri Lanka offset approximately 1800 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year.
